John is a PhD researcher at the Centre for Robotics and Intelligent Systems (CRIS) at the University of Limerick. His research involves the creation of an Intrusion Detection System for a 6LoWPAN based Internet of Things network using Genetic Algorithms and Recurrent Neural Networks. He received his BSc in Computer Science at the University of Limerick in 1995 where his final year project entitled “Interactive Performance System” won the Hewlett Packard award for that year. He completed his MBA with Distinction at Keller Graduate School in New York in 2015. John currently works as the Global IT Manager for a multinational company based in Limerick. His interest areas include Artificial Intelligence, cryptography, cybersecurity and manufacturing
