Admir Kaknjo

Admir was born in Zenica, Bosnia and Herzegovina in 1988. He received both his BSc and MSc degrees in Electrical Engineering from the University of Sarajevo, in 2010 and 2012 respectively.

He is currently a PhD student in the MMRRC of the University of Limerick where he is working on development and building of smart event triggered ocean monitoring platform. Admir's research 'Smart Event Triggered Ocean Monitoring Platform' is funded by the Irish Research Council under the Enterprise Partnership Scheme with ISGEI as enterprise partner. Beside the equipment which will allow the operation of event triggering mechanism, the platform is developed to serve as a docking station for mini Remote Operating Vehicle. The main objective of the overall system is long endurance with key ultra low power processor and sensors active while the rest of the platform payload systems are in sleep mode to preserve battery power. When the trigger event is detected, the system powers up appropriate equipment for richer dense data sampling. His interests include electronics design and PCB prototyping, high speed digital system design and 3D modelling and printing.
