Thomas Newe (BEng, PhD, MIEEE) was born in Westmeath, Ireland in 1967. He received his Honours Degree in Computer Enginerring in 1991. Following this he worked as a software engineer with MAC, Ireland and was awarded his PhD in 2003 from the University of Limerick for work on Formal Verification Logics for use in security protocol design.
He is currently a lecturer in the Department of Computer and Electronic Engineering in the University of Limerick and group leader of the Wireless Sensor Network Security group. He has graduated 8 PhD students in the general area of Security for Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs) and currently he has 6 registered students working in the areas of secure WSN for marine systems and medical environments.
His area of research include Wireless Sensor Networks, Operating Systems, Cryptography/Encryption Algorithms, Data Security, Network Security and Formal Verification Methods.
