Dr. Muzaffar Rao received B.S. degree in electronic engineering from SSUET Pakistan and M.E. degree in electrical engineering (specialization in telecommunication) from NED university Pakistan, in 2005 and 2009 respectively. He has worked as Lecturer/Assistant Professor at SSUET Pakistan for 07 years. He joined University of Limerick in 2013 as PhD student and finished his PhD in 2016. His PhD research was funded by the Erasmus Mundus STRoNG TiES program of European Union. During PhD he worked on efficient implementation of cryptographic algorithms/security protocols on FPGAs, algorithms optimization, and BITW secure core. Muzaffar joined the CRIS in 2018 as PostDoc researcher and has worked on projects supported by Science Foundation Ireland (SFI) research centres: Software Engineering (Lero), Smart Manufacturing (CONFIRM), Marine renewable energy (MaREI) in collaboration with industrial/academic partners. These projects are mainly in the areas of information security, IoTs, robotic automation, cyber-physical systems, system integration in smart manufacturing environment and intelligent systems design. Currently he is more focused on information security and smart manufacturing related projects. His further research interests include: Blockchain, Digital twin, Industrial IoT and machine learning. His research work has resulted in several peer reviewed publications (ISI indexed Journals, Book chapters and International conferences)..
