Martin Hayes is Head of the Electronic & Computer Engineering Department at the University of Limerick, and has previously contributed to the Intelligent Power Management and Control group within the Circuits and Systems Research (www.csrc.ie) and also to the Wireless Access Research Centres within the Department. He is the UL representative on the Irish Signals and Systems subcommittee of the Royal Irish Academy, and is a Steering committee member and Editor for the Irish Signals and Systems Conference.
Martin holds a BE and ME from the University of Limerick and a PhD from Dublin City University. His research interests lie in the area of Systems Theory in general and in particular on the intelligent use of system resources within biomedical or safety critical wireless systems that are subjected to channel and/or performance uncertainties. Martin's research has been sponsored by Science Foundation Ireland, Enterprise Ireland, Microsoft, IRCSET (The Irish Research Council for Science and Technology) and Failte Ireland.
He has served as an External Programme Examiner for UCC, DCU, DIT, LIT and GMIT. Moreover, Martin has served as an External Accreditation examiner and Rapporteur for Engineers Ireland including the UCD integrated BE/ME programme in 2015.
